As COVID-19 wreaks havoc across the globe, each country impacted has tough decisions to make in the name of safety. Keen to get a pulse on how individual countries’ approaches are being perceived, we recently surveyed 1,258 Americans, 1,268 Canadians, and 1,268 UK residents aged 18+ on this topic.
Rather than close similarities across countries, some noteworthy differences arise.
Specifically, Canadians are most inclined to feel their national response to COVID-19 has been “more proactive than other major countries” (48%). Additionally, the vast majority of Canadians (89%) feel their country has been “more” or “about as” proactive than other major countries.
By contrast, those in the US & UK are most apt to feel their country has been “less proactive” than other major countries (39% in both cases).
A quarter of the US respondents (26%) feel their country’s response has been “more proactive”, with this sentiment echoed by a modest 11% in the UK.
